IDC: This year, the smartphones outsell feature phone

Slowly but surely have seen a shift from feature phones to smartphones, it is seen from IDC forecasts. The market research firm said that smartphone shipments will surpass feature phone shipments this year for the first time in history.

According to IDC’s analysis, the vendors will ship a total of approximately 918.6 million smartphone devices. One-third of that number will be sent to the China which 301.2 million, 137.5 million shipped to the United States and 35.5 million shipped to England. The rest will be spread to other countries, including Indonesia.

While smartphone adoption continues to rise in China in 2013, IDC says that in a few years we will see the adoption of smartphones in Brazil and India will be much greater.
