OnePlus, the Chinese Mobile phone Company took everyone with surprise when they launched their first smartphone OnePlus One. OnePlus made sure the One stands at number 1 as the name suggest. The phone was announced in April. It was called flagship killer due to its high specs. Before the launch their were some leaked AnTunTu benchmarks which showed that it beat the smarphones such as Galaxy S5, Xepria Z and Note 3.

What made this device so special? The answer is its economical price tag coupled with high specs. The phone has Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 8-core processor. And each of the core was clocked at 2.5Ghz. Then the Adreno 330 is there for graphic support with 2 GB of RAM. It had 5.5 inch full HD display with 401 ppi pixel density. The rear camera is 13MP with Sony Exmor with 6 elements lense. The front camera camera is 5MP. The camera records video at 4K resolution with slow motion video at 720p.

OnePlus’ One has 2 variants. One sports 16GB storage which has silk white coloring. The other has 64 GB of storage in Sandstone Black color. While the phone lacks the SD card slot. The phone runs exclusively built Cyanogne Mod 11S that is Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat OS based. The phone offers all basic and advance connectivity. The phone is powered by 3,100 mAh Li-Po batterey which cannot be removed.

As some fortunate people have got this phone, some may be thinking of getting most out of the phones. For those who are thinking to root should know that it could not be rooted out of box. This is due to google’s regulations. However there is a way to do some tinkering. So read on because the root is here and it is quite simple. Keep in mind that you won’t be able to change official firmware. Let’s see how it could be done.

Before starting the rooting, you must have basic knowledge of ADB and Fastboot. If you don’t know, then know that first.

Step 1: Download TWRP (i.e., Team Win Recovery Project). For downloading go to this page. TWRP for OnePlus One.

Step 2: now you need to download the SuperSu. After downloading the zip, copy it to phone’s internal memory. It is not mandatory to put the zip file in root folder, but it is recommended.

Step 3: Now you need to boot into the boot loader. For doing this, open the command prompt in  the ADB folder and enter: adb reboot bootloader.

Step 4: After you reach in bootloader, you now need to flash the recvery. For doing this, enter this command: fastboot boot twrpimgname.img.

Step 5: within few seconds you will boot in the recovery, after you are done, flash the SuperSu.zip. Then reboot the device.

Step 6: After your device is rebooted, then go to the SuperSu setting and uncheck ‘Respect CM’s root policy’. That is all folks, OnePlus One is now ready to be tinkered. The ADB can be downloaded from Internet. If you don’t have knowledge about ADB, then read some manuals online.
