Aside from launching its new flagship Elife E8, Gionee has also officially announced its dual-battery powered Gionee Marathon M5 smartphone.
As previously mentioned, the Marathon M5’s biggest feature is its dual-battery design which lets it house two 3,010mAh batteries which combine to give the new smartphone a total battery capacity of 6,020mAh which is double of what most smartphones in its category have. According to Gionee, the massive battery along with the included power management software enable the M5 to last up to four full days of heavy use.
To complement the dual-battery system, Gionee has also added support for fast charging and has equipped the Marathon M5 with dual charging chips so that both batteries can be charged safely at the same time resulting in a faster overall charging time. Impressively, Gionee was able to keep the thickness of the M5 down to only 8.5mm in spite housing two battery cells.
As for the rest of its specifications, the M5 features a 5.5-inch HD screen with a display resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot that supports up to 128GB, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It also supports dual SIM standby and 4G LTE connectivity along with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Lastly, it will run Gionee’s Amigo OS on top of Android 5.1 Lollipop.
The Marathon M5 will available globally on June 25 for a price of 2299 Yuan.
