Photos and details on the upcoming Huawei Mate S have been leaked online through Chinese social media site Weibo.
The pictures unveil a device that looks significantly different from the device shown in pictures previously leaked from TENAA. While the device still retains its full metal body, the new pictures show a device with chamfered instead of curved front edges, a borderless display panel with chamfered edges, significantly smaller top and bottom bezels, and a rear speaker grill.
But the most significant difference is the new rear camera and fingerprint sensor mount. Instead of the conventional design of separate rear camera and fingerprint sensor mounts, the new pictures of the Mate S show a singular raised rectangular black surface that holds both the rear camera and the fingerprint sensor.
As for its specifications, the leak reveals that the Mate S will be equipped with a 6-inch display, a Kirin 950 processor, a Mali-T880 MP6 GPU, a 4500mAh battery, either 3GB of 4GB of RAM, and either 32GB of 64GB of internal storage.
Based on the pictures and specs, the Huawei Mate S is looking to be a very impressive device with the Kirin 950 showing single and multi-core performance scores that either match or beat both the Snapdragon 820 and Exynos 7420 processor.
The release date and price of the Huawei Mate S are still unknown. We’ll have to wait either for future leaks or Huawei to officially announce information to find out.
