Xiaomi has just teased the next device of its Redmi line of smartphones, the Redmi 3, and it looks like the company is releasing a gold version of the new device. The company’s President Lin Bin made the announcement via his Weibo account.
Lin Bin posted a teaser poster showing the rear of the gold colored Xiaomi Redmi 3 along with the announcement of the device’s January 12 launch. Along with the poster Lin Bin also announced that the Redmi 3 would feature a full metal body, a 5-inch display, and that the device will also go on sale on January 12.
According to the poster and Lin Bin, the main feature of the Redmi 3 is something called “light touch”. We’re not really sure what this means so we’ll have to wait until January 12 to find out what the company has in store with the Redmi 3.
Previous reports have revealed that the Xiaomi Redmi 3 will feature a 720p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, a whopping 4100mAh battery, and Android 5.1.1 with MIUI7.
The Xiaomi Redmi 3 is expected to be priced at around 699 Yuan but we’ll have to wait until January 12 to confirm that.
