We know for sure that OPPO will release new models in the OPPO R9 series on March 17 in China. Thanks to the TENAA listing, we have a good idea about the specs of both the devices. Now, a new leaked image reveals more details about the phone’s body and overall specs.
According to the new image, the OPPO R9 will come with the Mediatek P10 processor clocked at 2.0GHz. TENAA showed that the phone will come with an octa-core processor, but we were unsure about the chipset inside. But now it looks like the chip mode;l has been revealed. The image reveals that the phone will come with a 16MP camera up front, and a 13MP camera at the back. Usually, companies tend to pack in the best sensor at the back, so we will have to wait and see whether the R9 comes with such a setup.
One of the highlights of the OPPO R9 is going to be the super thin black borders on the screen. It is said that the borders are just of 1.66mm, which is one of the narrowest in the industry. Other features of the phone include a 5.5-inch display, metal body and fingerprint sensor that unlocks in just 0.2 seconds. The 2850mAh battery on board is reportedly good enough for 14 hours on a single charge, and up to 10 hours of video playback.
Coming to the OPPO R9 Plus, the document reveals that the phone will feature Snapdragon 652 octa-core chipset. At the back as well as the front, you will get 16MP Sony IMX298 sensors. The phone can reportedly capture images in up to 64MP resolution. The cameras on both the phones are said to be good. There will be two storage versions, one featuring 64GB and the other with 128GB. Finally, there will be a fingerprint sensor on board, much like its smaller sibling.
Thin bezels, powerful cameras, decent processors and a good battery with VOOC fast charging, well, OPPO R9 series seems to have a lot of good stuff inside. The only thing that we are worried about is the pricing. Rumors say that the R9 will retail for 2999 Yuan ($464) while the R9 Plus for 3499 Yuan ($541) in China, which is frankly higher than competitors. So, let’s hope OPPO prices it cheaper than these figures.
