Last week Huawei released P9 and P9 Plus with a competitive price of 2988 Yuan ($460) for the Huawei P9 and 3988 Yuan ($615) for the P9 Plus to boost sales. In an interview after the announcement Yu Chengdong, specifically pointed out the low price of the handsets.
Sales goals are high for Huawei and that is clear by the fact that Yu Chengdong requested that the production line must be capable of at least 10 million P9 and P9 Plus pieces as Gang He, the Mobile Production line President revealed. This means that the goal is above 10 million devices.
In addition, Gang He also talked about Huawei’s cooperation with Leica, emphasizing that their collaboration is long-term and that P9 and P9 Plus are the first of several high-end devices to come with dual-lens setup.
Gang also said that for the first half of 2016, P9/P9 Plus will be the only devices with the dual-lens setup, therefore, new flagship devices like the Huawei Mate 9 will come in the second half of the year.
At the Huawei P9 press conference, Yu said that in Q1 of 2016 global sales for the company rose by 61% overall, with the smartphone department rising by 63%. In the meantime, the Huawei Mate 8 sales have reached 4 million in 4 months.
