As reported yesterday, OPPO has reportedly stocked around 1 million units of the phone to meet higher demand owing to the large number of registrations the brand received for this phone. OPPO R9S features many upgrades in design and in hardware over its predecessor OPPO R9. The major design upgrade being the thick antenna line is replaced by three super thin antenna lines which are less visible and gives it a more seamless look.  Apart from looking better, this design will improve the signal coverage.

Moving on to hardware, OPPO R9s features a 5.5-inch 1080p display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Under the hood, there is a Snapdragon 625 chipset clocking 2GHz aided by 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM. The major highlight of this phone is the 16MP SonyIMX398 lens which is jointly developed by Sony and OPPO. A 16MP sensor sits on the front as well making it a perfect phone for photography lovers.

Shit crappie hardware spec but with huge expensive price

hmmm yeah… SD625 + 4/64GB + IMX398 optimized by Sony & Oppo is crappy… and $420 is too expensive for what probably is the best sensor Sony has developped atm and a sub-pixel focus technology you won’t find anywhere else… for sure

Please don’t give in to the “If it doesn’t hit 140k AnTuTu I won’t buy” stupidity.

I will wait for actual real life camera reviews though. And lets hope OP3T will use the same sensor with the same technology, should be a beast

        • NextHype

Yes it would be really great if OP could use the same technology inside the OP3T, but unfortunately, OP never obtained the optimizations Oppo made on their sensor implementation. OP1 was inferior to Find 7 in the camera dept, even if the 2 phones had the same sensor, and later, there was no similarities between OP2/3 and Oppo R9 cam modules.

As for the real life review, I’m secretly hoping DxO Mark finally test an Oppo device once they see Oppo worked with Sony on R9S’ IMX398 ^^
