News of a Meizu phone sporting an Exynos processor have been circulating for almost a year now. On multiple occasions did we think that the next Meizu phone to be released would use the Exynos 8890 processor. Just right when our hopes were high, a Meizu official or industry analyst would dash them. However, the Meizu Pro 6 Plus that was rumored to feature an Exynos processor was seen on Geekbench yesterday.

The Meizu Pro 6 Plus first surfaced about 2 months ago when a source said Meizu was working on a new flagship with a 5.7-inch display and an Exynos 8890 SoC. After that article, we didn’t hear anything about the phone, not until yesterday when it was seen on GeekBench.

The Meizu Pro 6 Plus is equipped with an octa-core processor clocked at 1.48GHz and scores 1462 points in the single-core test and 3693 points in the multi-core test. Although the processor is not specified to be an Exynos 8890, it is strongly believed to be an under-clocked version of the chip, hence its low scores when compared to the Galaxy Note 7.
