The Huawei P20 Pro was the first phone to launch with three rear cameras. News going around says the LG V40 will also come with triple rear cameras but up the game by adding dual front-facing cameras for a total of five cameras.

Android Police says a source informed them of the Korean giant’s plan for its next flagship. LG will stick to its wide-angle lens + standard lens configuration for two of the rear cameras but the job of the third sensor remains unknown.

For the front cameras, one of the sensors or even both will capture details of the face for 3D face unlock. Those two sensors will sit in a notch. So if you don’t like the LG G7 ThinQ because it has a notch, you may be disappointed again. However, you should be able to hide it if you want.

The choice of the display panel isn’t yet confirmed though. LG used an IPS LCD screen for the LG G7 ThinQ while the V35 ThinQ has a P-OLED display. Chances are it may stick to OLED for the V-series.

Other features mentioned include quad DAC, a dedicated Google Assistant button, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845. So, basically, we are looking at an LG G7 ThinQ with more features (read more cameras).

Since the cameras are the big deal, we hope LG does come out with something super impressive. Google has shown that you can achieve a lot with a single camera and it is sticking to that for the 3rd gen Pixels. Samsung has also upped its camera game with the Galaxy S9/S9+ and will repeat the feat with the Galaxy Note 9.
