Nokia X5 should have been launched a few days ago, but at the last moment, the launch event was canceled. HMD Global has published a post on the microblogging platform Weibo with its apologies to its fans, saying that there were issues with the launch event center but not giving any exact reason for the cancellation. The Finnish firm did not even give a new date for the launch of the upcoming mid-range handset, but now some reports have revealed it. According to an unknown source cited by GizChina, it will be officially announced on July 17.

However, we can not give you any info about the reliability of this report and we are yet to receive an official answer from HMD Global in this regard. So, take everything with a pinch of salt, but we believe it will not take much for this device to be officially announced. In the meantime, it is worth reminding you of the main specs of the upcoming mid-ranger which will succeed the X6 and its satisfying success in the last period. Nokia X5 will boast a 5.86-inch display with IPS technology and it will be the second HMD Global phone to sport a notch as well as a 19:9 aspect ratio.

Under the hood, it will feature an octa-core Helio P60 chipset which is currently the best one released by MediaTek in the last year but remains a midrange SoC. It should come in at least two configurations: one with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, and another with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB ROM. The first variant is expected to be launched in China with a price tag of 799 Yuan, which roughly translates into $120, while the 6/64 GB version is expected to be priced 999 Yuan (roughly $150). Nokia X5 should also launch in the global market with a different name: Nokia 5.1 Plus.
