Earlier this year, Vivo India had introduced the marvelous Snapdragon 845 chipset powered Vivo NEX flagship smartphone that offers full screen experience and pop-up selfie camera. Later, it had also launched the Vivo V11 Pro with waterdrop notch screen, in-screen fingerprint reader and rapid charging support. Vivo India’s Director-Brand Strategy, Nipun Marya has confirmed to India publication India Today that the company will be launching the Vivo V12 Pro as the successor for the V11 Pro in the first half of 2019.

The company follows a strategy of launching two V-series smartphones in a year. The first one is released in the first half of the year and the second one is announced in the remaining half of the year. This year the Chinese manufacturer had released the Vivo V9 smartphone in March and the Vivo V11 Pro was announced in September. And now the company is planning to debut the Vivo V12 Pro in the first half of the next year.

Like the Vivo V11 Pro, the V12 Pro is expected to arrive with in-screen fingerprint reader. Marya did not share any details of the phone. It appears that like the predecessor model, the V12 Pro could be priced under Rs. 30,000. It may retain the waterdrop notch screen or may feature a punch hole display like the recently released Samsung Galaxy A8s and Huawei Nova 4 smartphones.

Marya did not speak anything on Vivo V10 that is expected to succeed the Vivo V9 phone. Now that the Vivo V12 Pro is confirmed to go official in H1 2019, the company may launch the V10 in the second half of the year.

Marya has also revealed to the publication that Vivo is working with Qualcomm to introduce a 5G smartphone in 2019. He also confirmed that the company is in advanced stages of testing a 5G phone. When asked whether the company will be releasing a 5G phone in India, Marya responded by saying that the company as soon as India becomes 5G ready, it will be among first companies to release a 5G enabled phone in the country.
