Xiaomi has launched another innovative product under the Youpin crowdfunding platform. The product is dubbed Lighten AI English reading companion. As the name implies the gadget offers translation services for Chinese speakers. The gadget actually needs a supporting smartphone as it comes with an app that has the Cambridge dictionary and another simplified dictionary onboard.

The gadget comes with a 13MP Sony IMX214 camera which captures the texts in a book placed in front of it. The camera has a wide angle and can capture texts with a 1750cm2 radius. The efficiency of the app isn’t affected by the font type, line spacing, and typesetting format.

The device is ultra-lightweight, at just 190g and has a dimension of 34x34x1.62mm when not in use. The head is extendable in order to prop up the camera when it is to be used. Despite the size, it crams a big 2600mAh battery under the hood. The device also comes with vacuum stabilizer which helps keep it stable despite the narrow frame. It is powered by an Intel AI chip.
