After several rumors and leaks, Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi K20 a couple of months ago in China. The device comes packed with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC coupled with 6/8 GB RAM and 64/128/256 GB internal storage variants. It carries a triple rear camera unit including Sony IMX586 48-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.75 aperture, a 124.8-degree 12-megapixel superwide camera lens and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture. On the front, the pop-up camera houses a 20-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture for beautiful selfies. Furthermore, there’s a 6.39 inch AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and has a 1080 x 2340 pixels of resolution. To protect eyes from the strain while using the phone in low-brightness, it hosts DC dimming to protect eyes. Other features include Android 9.0 Pie, 4000 mAh battery with 27W fast charging technology, and usual connectivity options.

What is Unlocking a Bootloader of Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro?

Usually, an OEM or manufacturer locks the bootloader to prevent users from doing changes to the firmware. It is the first and the foremost step before rooting the Android device. It allows users to flash a custom recovery like TWRP and later enables the ability to install custom ROMs. There are many other advantages and disadvantages of unlocking a bootloader.

Steps to Unlock the bootloader of Xiaomi Redmi K20

Unlocking Method 1:

  1. Enable Developer Mode by heading to the Settings> About Phone>Build Number and then tap it for seven times.
  2. Now, toggle USB Debugging mode, OEM unlock option by heading to the Developer Option.
  3. Before proceeding, head over to the Mi unlock site and click “Unlock Now” to apply for unlocking the bootloader.
  4. Type every information they need. Xiaomi will verify the device by sending the security code on your device to verify the actual owner.
  5. After applying, it will take 3-4 days to approve your application. Once you received the notification, you can proceed with the steps ahead. (Note: Steps Below should be performed after receiving application approval.)
  6. Download and Extract the Mi Flash Unlock tool on the PC.
  7. Upon extracting, open MiFlashUnlock.exe file from the folder and click Agree on the disclaimer page.mi bootloader
  8. Open the Mi Unlock tool and sign-in with the same Mi account you logged-in on the Redmi K20 Pro.
  9. Reboot your device into the Fastboot mode by pressing Power + Volume Down.
  10. Now, connect your Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro with your PC via a USB cable.
  11. In the Mi Unlock Tool, you will see the “Unlock Now” option.mi unlock
  12. Press the “Unlock Now” button, and the tool will automatically unlock the Redmi K20 Pro.
  13. Upon successful completion, you will get ‘Your device bootloader is unlocked‘ message.
  14. Restart the device and enjoy!
