The Nubia Z20 and the Vivo NEX Dual Display are two prime examples of dual-screen smartphones. However, they may soon be joined by a bigger brand in the near future. That brand is Samsung and a recently published patent is proof.

Samsung Dual Display Device Patent

LetsGoDigital reports that Samsung filed a patent for a dual-display device with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) back in June. The patent has now been published and the Dutch site has created 3D renders of the device.

The renders show the device with a large primary display on one side. The main display has very thin side and bottom bezels and a moderately sized one at the top which houses sensors and the speaker. There is no notch or punch-hole.

Flip the phone over and you are greeted with a smaller display, about half the size of the larger one. There are thick bezels surrounding it, and with the bottom half bare, you could call this a BlackBerry phone with a missing physical QWERTY keyboard. There are dual camera sensors at the top left corner of the phone. There is no visible fingerprint scanner, so we’ll presume one is under the display.

With the second screen, users can take selfies with the rear cameras with the secondary display serving as the viewfinder. It could also serve as a secondary ViewFinder if you are taking the picture of a person or group of friends, allowing them to see what the picture will look like.

LetsGoDigital also made a second set of renders with the primary display featuring a punch hole similar to that of the Galaxy S10+. The blog presumes that this may be the Galaxy S11e since it has dual cameras and the patent includes a link to the Galaxy S10’s own patent. However, we think Samsung may actually launch this under its Galaxy A series.
