Apple is expected to debut the upcoming line of iPhone 14 devices in September this year. The 14 series is said to be made up of the vanilla iPhone 14, the iPhone 14 Pro, the iPhone 14 Pro Max, and the iPhone 14 Max. The Pro and Pro Max models are rumored to come with some major changes this time around including a new pill + punch-hole cutout for the front camera and a large 48-megapixel primary camera sensor.
Now, a new report from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has revealed that the new iPhones will also be getting some improvements to their front cameras. According to the analyst, all the devices in the iPhone 14 series will come with auto-focus support. This will result in sharper pictures and videos compared to previous/current iPhones that come with fixed-focus.
That’s not all, as Kuo has reported that the upcoming iPhones will also feature a 6P lens setup for the front camera combined with a larger f/1.9 aperture. 6P means that the camera will have six pieces of the lens to reduce the distortion of light entering the lens. The f/1.9 aperture, which is considerably bigger than the f/2.2 aperture currently featured on the iPhone 13 series, will allow more light to enter the camera. This will result in sharper and brighter pictures/videos.
Considering all the changes coming to the front camera, we can expect some significant quality improvements with the iPhone 14 series that’s rumored to debut in September 2022.
