MSTAR is a relatively new brand. Its a subsidiary of LIHUA International Group Limited. We had earlier seen a new smartphone from the company, the MSTAR S700 and looks like they have something for the budget customers too. The company has recently unveiled the MSTAR S100 and the device is already available for purchase via Geekbuying for just $120.99.

At this price tag, the smartphone offers a lot of good features. It comes with the 64-bit 1.5GHz MT6732 quad-core processor which reportedly performs better than the Snapdragon 410. Along with this chip, the phone features 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM (5.6GB Available) which should be enough for your basic needs.

Apart from the MT6732 chip, the 5.5-inch HD display on the MSTAR S100 makes the device stand out from the crowd. It offers a good chip in a large sized display, ideal for phablet lovers.

In fact, if we directly compare the MSTAR S100 with the Xiaomi Redmi Note, we see that both the phones should have similar specs. The Redmi Note features a 5.5-inch HD display and Snapdragon 410 chip, which should be at par with the MSTAR S100. One area, where the S100 lacks is the RAM, which is just 1GB instead of 2GB on the Redmi Note, however, at this price, you can’t really complain. Also, even with 1GB on board, the performance should be satisfactory. On the other hand, the Redmi Note retails for anywhere between $180-$200.

The MSTAR S100 comes with an 8MP Auto Focus rear camera with True LED Flash and a 5MP front facing shooter with Face Beauty Mode. It supports dual SIM dual standby and comes with wide support for 4G LTE bands (4G: FDD-LTE 800/1800/2100/2600MHz). Finally, a 2800mAh battery makes sure that the phone lasts for at least a day long.

Overall, the MSTAR S100 turns out to be a great offering for its $120 price tag. You even get to choose between four different colored back covers to suit your need.
