The much anticipated and upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 looks like it’s finally gotten an official launch date according to a post made by the company’s CEO in Chinese social media site Weibo.
Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun, posted a screenshot of the Redmi Note 2’s screen on his Weibo account along with the announcement that the new device will launch on June 29, 2015. The new phone, whose details have been leaked repeatedly since earlier this year, has been long awaited since its predecessor was announced more than a year ago.
The Redmi Note 2 reportedly features a full-metal design, a 5.5-inch full HD display, either a Helio X10-based or Snapdragon 410 processor (depending on the region), 3GB of RAM, a 3,100mAh battery, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. These details and the rest of the device’s specifications should be confirmed once the device launches in a few weeks.
Once the device launches on the 29th, it should go on sale in China a few weeks after while the rest of the world should start seeing it in the next few months. Xiaomi has always been known to sell their devices at very competitive and accessible prices and the Redmi Note 2 will probably receive the same treatment.
