Ever since Apple announced their first smart watch, manufacturers have been scrambling to come out with clones and look-alikes of the now-popular device. One of those is the R8 smart watch from a company called Cubot.
The Cubot R8 is regarded by its company as the “slimmest smart watch in the world” as its main metal body only measure 8.8mm which is actually significantly thinner than the Apple Watch but that also means the R8 doesn’t feature the exact same curvature the Apple Watch has around its edges instead featuring slightly flatter sides.
The face of the R8 measures around 45 x 44mm and houses its 1.54-inch IPS display with a screen resolution of 240 x 240 pixels. The watch’s display is protected by G+F lamination that helps prevent scratches. The whole watch itself is also supposedly waterproof although the company does not mention if the device is IP certified for it.
The watch is powered by a MediaTek MTK2501 processor, 24MB of RAM, 32MB of internal storage, and a 250mAh battery. It connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth 4.0. As for its features, the Cubot R8 is equipped with the usual functions found on most modern smart watches including a pedometer, a barometer, a thermometer, altimeter, and sleep monitoring.
The watch is currently available at ComeBuy.com for a very competitive price of USD66.90. It’s currently available in Silver or Gold.
