Virtual reality has been one of the hottest industries in the past two years with technology leaders like Samsung and Sony working to develop their own virtual reality technology. But virtual reality has been one industry that Chinese manufacturers have yet to tap into, until today.
At the ChinaJoy expo, Storm Technologies CEO Feng Xin revealed that Huawei and Xiaomi are currently working together to develop their own virtual reality technology and added that the companies plan to officially unveil their work during the third or fourth quarter of this year.
While this big news has not been confirmed by either company, it wouldn’t be surprising that two of the biggest technology manufacturers in China would already be working on something related to virtual reality as it is only a matter of time before that could happen.
With their reputation for creating quality products at affordable prices, it would be interesting and exciting to find out what each of these companies have in store for the virtual reality market whether or not they are working together or developing each of their own technologies.
We’ll just have to wait and see what Huawei and Xiaomi announce in the next few months but we’re hoping either or both companies can bring virtual reality technology to more people with the production of cheaper and more accessible virtual reality tech.
