Yesterday, it was reported that the first smartphone from Qihoo 360 and Coolpad joint company QiKU would feature the upcoming Snapdragon 820 processor but a leak today has confirmed that the upcoming device won’t feature the new processor after all.
Additionally, with the company’s conference set to happen on August 26 and the Snapdragon 820 only scheduled to start appearing on phones near the end of this year or early next year, the gap between the announcement and the estimated launch of the device would end up being too large.
So instead of the Snapdragon 820, the first device from QiKU will feature a Snapdragon 808 processor instead. The processor as well as the rest of the device’s specifications were found on the AnTuTu database and leaked online.
Aside from the six-core MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 processor, the QiKU smartphone will also feature a 1080p display, an Adreno 418 GPU, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The new device will also run the latest Android 5.1.1 operating system.
Additionally, according to the leaked information, the new device got a benchmark score of 50937. If the phone in the leak is indeed the upcoming QiKU device then it will be the first smartphone from a Chinese manufacturer to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808 processor.
The upcoming device is supposedly going to be priced at around 3999 Yuan and will be targeted towards the high-end market. While the specifications of the device look impressive, we’re not sure if the high price tag of 3999 Yuan matches it. What do you think?
