Actual photos of the upcoming Huawei Mate S have leaked online showing what looks like a production sample of the new smartphone.
The leaked photos show a device that looks very much like the Mate S when compared to previously leaked photos from TENAA. It must be noted though that the device in today’s leaked photos don’t match the device in some previously leaked photos and postings on online stores specifically the front camera and sensor positions. The differences might be due to changes in design throughout the phone’s development.
In the pictures, the Mate S is put next to and compared to an iPhone 6 Plus. It features many of the design characteristics of its predecessor including the full metal design, boxy shape, and the company’s signature rear-mounted fingerprint scanner below the main camera. It also features very thin bezels on both the sides as well as the top and bottom of the screen.
As for its specifications, the Mate S is rumored to feature a 6-inch Quad HD display with Force Touch technology, either the upcoming Kirin 950 or currently available Kirin 935 processor, 3 or 4GB of RAM, a large 4,500mAh battery, a 20.7-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel front-facing camera, LTE Cat.6 connectivity, and Huawei’s Emotion 4.0 UI on top of Android 5.1 Lollipop.
The Huawei Mate S, which was previously expected to be called the Mate 7S and the Mate 8, is expected to be officially unveiled at the IFA event in Berlin next week on September 2.
