In spite of releasing some of the best smartphones in the market, Xiaomi has yet to release a device with a fingerprint sensor for whatever reason. But it looks like that will change soon as a leaked picture of what allegedly is the back cover of the company’s upcoming Redmi Note 2 Pro reveals a provision for a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
The leaked picture shows the main or center piece of a three-part back cover with three holes for the camera, the flash, and the fingerprint sensor. The piece is made of metal also revealing that the Redmi Note 2 Pro will feature a metal body. The three piece design of the back cover enables the device to have some space for the signal of the internal antenna to go through.
As for the rest of the Redmi Note 2 Pro’s features, It’s been previously leaked that it will feature a 5.5-inch display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor, and will be available in three variants with either 2GB of RAM + 16GB of storage, 3GB of RAM + 32GB of storage, or 4GB of RAM + 64GB of storage which will be allegedly priced at 1099 Yuan, 1299 Yuan, and 1499 Yuan, respectively.
Xiaomi’s next-generation flagship Mi 5 will also allegedly feature a fingerprint sensor but since their current flagship, the Mi 4C, was just recently released then we probably won’t be seeing the Mi 5 anytime soon.
