The Xiaomi Mi 4 Is Getting Android 6.0 Marshmallow

It’s been more than a year since Xiaomi released its Mi 4 flagship and up to this day it still runs Android 4.4 KitKat. Owners of the device have been clamoring for a software upgrade for a long time and it looks like there’s good news for them in the form of Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

MIUI’s operations manager, @RanGer风起, posted a picture on his Weibo account today showing a Mi 4 running an Android 6.0-based version of the company’s MIUI 7 operating system. According to the picture, the device was running Android 6.0 version MRA58K and a developer version of MIUI 7 5.11.20.

So it looks like Xiaomi is completely skipping Android 5.x on the Mi 4 and going straight to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The software upgrade is currently still in the beta testing stages but at least Mi 4 owners will now have something to look forward to now.
