Yesterday, rumors that Qualcomm will be holding a December 11 conference in Beijing to debut their Snapdragon 820 in Asia came out and today those rumors have been confirmed by the company with the announcement that they will indeed be debuting their new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor to the Asian market.
The Snapdragon 820 has been one of the industry’s most anticipated launches as it is the company’s attempt at redeeming itself after the relative failure of its Snapdragon 810 processor. The 820 will signal the Qualcomm’s return to quad-core designs for its flagship processors after its first flagship octa-core chip, the aforementioned 810, failed to meet expectations.
Among the many Chinese manufacturers that will undoubtedly be featuring the new processor in their next-generation smartphone, Xiaomi is expected to be the first to release a Snapdragon 820-powered device with their next-generation Mi 5 flagship device which is also rumored to be debuted at the same event.
We’ll just have to wait for Friday to find out more on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor including its features and capabilities and whether Xiaomi will also be at the event to debut the Mi 5.
