Fans have been wondering when Xiaomi plans to unveil its latest flagship, the Mi 5, as the device was originally expected to launch at the beginning of the year as the first smartphone to feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820 processor but last month the company announced that it would delay the launch of the new flagship smartphone to sometime after the Chinese New Year leaving the exact release date of the Mi 5 up in the air.
But today, information was leaked revealing that Xiaomi plans to hold a press conference on February 22 and the company could be planning to finally launch the Mi 5 at the event. Additionally, the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is also scheduled to start on the same date as Xiaomi’s conference so the company might be planning to hold a launch event or plan to showcase the Mi 5 at the conference as well.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 is the company’s latest flagship smartphone and is one of the first smartphones to feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820 processor. Alongside the new processor, the Mi 5 will also feature a 5.2-inch 2K resolution display, 4GB of RAM, 16 to 64GB of internal storage, a 16-megapixel rear camera, and an 8-megeapixel front-facing camera. No information on the Mi 5’s price has been leaked so far but the device should be priced similarly or a little higher than its predeccessors.
