Xiaomi has finally launched their most awaited smartphone today and until now you all must be aware of the specifications and features of this newest flagship device from the brand. As a reminder, the Mi 5 features a compact 5.2-inch 1080p display and is powered by a Snapdragon 820 chipset.
Mi 5 will be available in 3GB + 32B, 3GB + 64GB and 4GB + 128GB memory combinations. Other than that it features a 16MP camera and is backed by a 3000mAh battery.
Mi 5 will be available for purchase starting March 1 in China. As for the India availability, Xiaomi International VP Hugo Barra made it clear that Mi 5 will be shipping to India soon. Being an important market for the company, India could be the second market where the phone launches.
Hugo Barra also mentioned global markets while announcing the availability details, which possibly hints that Xiaomi Mi 5 might be hitting the shelves in international markets like the United States and Europe. It has been widely speculated for quite some time that Xiaomi is looking forward to enter these regions to reach a wider audience.
If Xiaomi is eyeing global markets, then Mi 5 is a serious competitor to many of the so called other flagship devices released around the same time frame. If it gets a global release then it will be competing with the likes of LG G5 and Samsung Galaxy S7, among others.
Unfortunately, Xiaomi is yet to reveal exactly which global markets it intends to release the phone in the coming weeks. So, stay tuned for more updates.
