The high cost of materials has started to affect the price of electronics in China. Earlier this week we reported that Xiaomi has increased the price of two of its Mi TV models. News going round now is that the Xiaomi Mi 6 will also be affected and will sell for a higher price when it launches.

Xiaomi flagships usually have a starting price of ¥1999 ($300) for the base model and increases as the specifications moves up but this year’s Xiaomi Mi 6 may start at ¥2499 ($370), and trust re-sellers to even jack the price up further.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is touted as being the first Chinese smartphone to sport Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 835 processor and is expected to launch with the Android Nougat based MIUI 9, dual cameras, and a fast charging technology called Mi Charge. The phone is also rumored to come in multiple variants with each variant sporting a different processor.
