Chinese smartphone maker Gionee has just discreetly launched its latest smartphone, the Steel 2, a new mid-range device currently up for pre-order in China.
As its name implies, the Gionee Steel 2 features a full metal body measuring 144.3×70.5×8.6mm coupled with a 5-inch HD 720p IPS display. It also features a 1.25GHz quad core MT6737 processor, 3GB of RAM, either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage with support for external storage up to 128GB, dual SIM support, a fingerprint scanner on the physical home button, and the company’s Amigo 3.5 OS which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Weighing in at 160 grams, the Steel 2 is also equipped with an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0 wireless connectivity, and a large 4,000mAh battery. It is currently available in both Jazz Gold and Gold Black. While the Gionee Steel 2 is already available for pre-order in China, no details about a global release have been announced.
