One of the most anticipated smartphones this year is undoubtedly Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and its new secondary variant the S8 Plus. Quite a bit of information has been leaked about the Galaxy S8 recently including 3D renders of the device as well as an actual photo of a prototype. And today, not only have the dimensions of the S8 and S8 Plus been revealed but the model numbers of both models have also been leaked.
According to the leak, the larger Galaxy S8 Plus is called the SM-G955X (or SM-G9550 in China) and measures 152.38 x 78.51 x 7.94mm which is both taller and wider than last year’s flagship S7 Edge. The S8 Plus is expected to feature a larger screen than the standard S8 and basing on the released dimensions, the S8 Plus will come with at least a 6.3-inch display as the curved portion of the screen is still unaccounted for.
As for the smaller standard Galaxy S8, it will carry the model number SM-G950X (or SM-G9600 in China) and will measures 140.14mm x 72.20 x 7.30mm which is surprisingly shorter than the standard S7 but it is at least wider and thinner. Additionally, since the standard Galaxy S8 will also feature a curved display, it will undoubtedly feature a larger screen than the S7 which is measured to be approximately 5.7-inches.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are expected to release on April 18 but the company may at least unveil the device at the 2017 Mobile World Congress late next month.
