Vernee Apollo beats OnePlus 3T in display performance battle

by Dimitris Economou 5

In a previous article we had mentioned the fact that Vernee stacks the Vernee Apollo up against the OnePlus 3T, a bold move nevertheless. Today, the company continues this “battle” and compares the display quality of the two devices. Vernee Apollo and OnePlus 3T are both the flagship models of the two brands and they share many features in design. The former comes with a 2K LCD display while latter sports a 1080p AMOLED screen.

At first sight, both the two models deliver pretty good viewing performance. Apollo shows more vivid colors while 3T’s screen is more appealing to eyes but a little yellowish. However, in terms of close view, Apollo beats 3T utterly. Because 3T’s display features a pentile alignment, the detail level is far behind that of Apollo. You can even see the rough edges on text. Also, in terms of viewing angle Apollo outruns OnePlus 3T as well.

Below, you can watch the comparison video. It clearly shows the superiority of an LCD IPS display over a pentile matrix AMOLED display. Also, the viewing angles of the Apollo are better than those on the 3T. Unfortunately, OnePlus didn’t choose a top-self AMOLED panel for its flagship. Instead, they went for a previous generation one, that only has better black performance and better contrast than a good LCD display.
