The smartwatch industry has been quite stagnant over the past year with smartwatch sales dropping and manufacturers trying to find ways to bring more innovative features to the wearable devices to make them more desirable. And it looks like Samsung is well on its way to doing that as a recent patent application has revealed that the company is working on a new smartwatch design that features a secondary screen on the watch’s bezel.
While patent applications don’t always turn into actual products, it at least gives us an idea of what Samsung may be trying to accomplish for their next smartwatch. And with the amount of details, some of which are very specific, included in the patent application, it could be possible that Samsung may be working on an actual prototype for this unique smartwatch.
Although, there hasn’t been any evidence that a 360-degree curved display would even be possible in spite Samsung having quite a lot of experience with curved displays. The patent application also didn’t mention much on actual software applications for the unique 360-degree curved display.
So again, while this new patent application looks incredibly interesting, we’ll have to wait and see what Samsung teases or announces in the future about their plans for their smartwatches. Which could very well take a while given how recent the new patent application is.
