CUBOT: The rising China’s foreign trade smartphone brand

As early as 2016 the mobile phone market was already highly competitive and dealers enter the competition through the vertical integration. The profit margins are thin industry-wide while market share is further curved up. The product competition has become consumers’ pursuit of quality and brand recognition. All slightly famous Chinese brands in the overseas market have joined the configuration upgrade war, except for Cubot that was low-key compared to them and didn’t look like a strong competitor.

Although there was not much advertising, the company worked excellent in 2016. In the MWC in Feb 2016, Cheetah mobile launched a joint customized version Cubot Cheetah that drew attention throughout the show and dozens of the world’s top technology sites including Digitaltrends, Gsmarena, Venturebeat, Cnet, etc. reported Cubot products and the Cheetah model appeared out of stock at sometime. In the second half of the year, its upgraded version of Cheetah 2 also did excellent in the market.

In the first half of 2017, Cubot started with a new attitude. Until July 2017, Cubot has released a smartband (Cubot S1) and 3 smartphones: Cubot Rainbow 2, Cubot R9, and Cubot Magic, although the market is still in fermentation.
