Blackview BV9000 Pro: The world’s 1st rugged phone with an 18:9 full-display

by Dimitris Economou 4

Blackview is soon going to release BV9000 Pro that they’ve been working on for a long time. Being up to date with current trends, it combines elements from the BV Series together with modern design choices. It is classic updated, as it brings 18:9 aspect ratio displays to the rugged smartphones segment. And although the most popular devices, iPhone X and Galaxy S8 sport IP67 rating, the BV9000 Pro brings IP86 certification to the table.

But how can it achieve drop resistance with such a display? The main material used is rubber, Gorilla Glass and aluminum-magnesium metal frame. Also, the screen is surrounded by a certain degree of raised rubber, preventing the display from hitting the ground when falling on the floor. It provides maximum cushioning and distributed stress to prevent damage to the phone body.

Except for the superior protection capabilities, the Blackview BV9000 Pro is expected to come loaded with 6GB RAM, 128GB of internal storage and be powered by a MediaTek Helio P25 octa-core SoC. In addition, there is an 8MP front-facing camera as well as a 13MP/5MP dual rear camera with Sony sensors. The final camera effects were developed by Media Tek and the lens supplier of OPPO and Huawei. So it can be said that this phone will have the best camera among BV Series devices.

I hope you meant to say IP68 (I’m not sure whether there’s an IP86?). I’d rather have more waterproof-ness than dust ingress protection.

It’s nice. But the S10 Pro from NOMU, for me, is nicer. It has a higher waterproof rating, bigger battery, and costs less money..

As a big fan of NOMU and Blackview. I always pay much attention to their latest products. Blackview BV9000 Pro and NOMU T18, excellent phones, but there’s a big difference between the two. BV9000 Pro has big screen, large ROM, better camera, while NOMU T18 has bigger battery, advanced fingerprint unlocking and OTG, and innovative walkie-talkie and external camera. For outdoor use, objectively speaking, NOMU T18 is much better as it can can bring much convenience. The walkie-talkie function and external camera can be very useful. Anyway, I hope Blackview can produce better phone in the future…

Very expensive rugged phone. I don’t know if it’s worthy of the price. But right now, I get along well with my NOMU S10 Pro. For one that looks for a professional rugged phone, I highly recommend S10 Pro. It’s really nice for outdoor use, and it’s almost 3 times cheaper than BV9000 Pro. (Hope Blackview would take the price into consideration)
