A mysterious new smartphone from ZTE has been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance. It is speculated that this could be the rumored ZTE Axon 8 that may get unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 in the next month.

The Wi-Fi certification of the smartphone has revealed that it has a model number of Z2321U and it is running on Android 8.1 Oreo. This version of Android Oreo is currently only available on Google Pixel and Nexus devices. The smartphone is yet to receive approval from other certification entities like FCC, TENAA or Bluetooth SIG.

ZTE is no longer selling the Axon 7 smartphone. However, the company has promised to launch a worthy successor for it. In November 2017, it was speculated that the successor of Axon 7 may get unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) or MWC 2018 this year. Hence, it is speculated that the Z2321U phone could be Axon 8.
