In 2017 we witnessed the rise and prosperity of full-screen smartphones. The full-screen edgeless design has rapidly become the most trending element, replacing the dual cameras. Naturally, it will also be the new standard for most flagship phones in 2018.
Currently, there are basically three different types of full-screen designs. The first and most popular one is the so called “Infinity Display”, named by Samsung and used in Samsung S8/S8+. The second type is “Tri-bezel-less Display” which is embodied by Xiaomi Mi Mix series. The last but most uncommon one is the “Notch Display”, with iPhone X as its model.
On one hand, the design and production of a “notch display” is much more difficult and complicated than that of the normal full screen. On the other hand, the “notch display” is still not widely accepted by customers due to its odd style. So far, apart from iPhone X, only Sharp Aquos S2 and Essential Phone have adopted it but they are both differentiated from iPhone X “notch”.
Yet, the iPhone X’s immersive display effects provide a nice user experience, making the “notch” increasingly popular with each passing day. In addition to the display, Apple introduced the Face ID unlock that proves to be more convenient and flexible than the good old fingerprint sensor. Recently, sources show that Huawei will also use the notch design in its next flagship, Huawei P20, which is a solid proof of its popularity.
Not coincidentally, a set of photos showing another “notch display” phone is leaked from Leagoo – one of the leading export smartphone brands in China. The leaked photos indicate that the Leagoo S9-called device is also a “notch phone” just like iPhone X.
Until now, it is still unknown what specs and features will be applied on Leagoo S9 but according to sources, it will adopt a Face ID system that is identical to the one found on iPhone X and can unlock the device within 0.1 second. It will also come with 4GB RAM, 64GB of storage and a 5.85″ HD+ IPS display.
According to the company’s product roadmap, the S9 will be launched on MWC 2018 in Barcelona in February in alliance with top Premier League team – Tottenham Hotspur. Super football stars from THFC will also join the launch event and announce the Leagoo S9 at that time.
