In a recent poll, users placed charging speed in the third place when it comes to the most important features of a smartphone. As performance has been solved and even entry-level smartphones are fluid and smooth, battery life and charging times are still a concern. Over the last years, fast charging has become part of the solution and now it’s the turn of wireless charging to become even faster.
Sources revealed that UMIDIGI has adopted the latest fast wireless charging tech (5A/15W) on UMIDIGI Z2 which may take the phone from 0% to 80% charge in less than 1 hour. The 15W output means that the Z2 will adopt the latest QI 1.2.2 standard, although you should take the charging time with a pinch of salt, as it seems too good to be true for the time being.
A leaked screenshot from Weibo claims that UMIDIGI Z2’s wireless charger from Newyea has passed the QI test in December 2017. Considering the flash speed, we would cautiously suppose that UMIDIGI this time adopted Qualcomm’s QC fast charge technology, meaning it will probably come with a Snapdragon SoC.
Another source claims that the 15W wireless charging module can supply exactly the same amount of power as normal wired chargers. Compared to current iPhone X wireless chargers, which can only transmit up to 7.5W, UMIDIGI’s wireless charger is 2 times faster than regular wireless chargers on the market today.
