Cubot J3 will soon become world’s cheapest smartphone with Face Recognition

Cubot will announce 2 Android Go devices in June with one of them -Cubot J3 Pro- being already in the news. As its bigger sibling, the Cubot J3 will come at a very affordable price with information placing it below the $60 threshold, at $59.99. And despite the low price, the J3 will feature Facial Recognition to make it safer and unlock the phone without you touching it. However, it lacks a fingerprint sensor.

Of course, it is an entry-level device with low specs compared to modern -and more expensive- models but that’s what Android Go is all about. It is very lightweight and can run smoothly on a device with MT6580 SoC, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage found in Cubot J3. Low specs allow for a smaller battery since they are not power-hungry, so the J3 comes with a 2000mAh battery and also supports dual-SIM/dual-standby as well as expandable storage up to 128GB.

On to the rest of the specs, it comes with a 5″ 18:9 display in a rounded and thin body. The 8MP rear camera and LED flash are placed just like in the iPhone X, vertically on the upper left side on the back. Lastly, there is a 5MP selfie shooter.
