Having raised the bar in terms of design, build quality, and performance, the recently released UMIDIGI Z2 is now capable of going head-to-head with some of the best flagships out there, like the Huawei P20. Since this year’s trend is the notch display, both of them feature one with the Z2 having a 6.2″ FHD+ and the P20 going a little smaller at 5.8″, also FHD+. But the choice of Huawei to place the fingerprint reader on the front reduced the screen-to-body ratio. On the other hand, the Z2 manages to sport a much smaller bottom bezel. Also, the Z2 has a hideable navigation bar and supports full-screen mode. In terms of software, UMIDIGI went with stock Android 8.1 Oreo while the Huawei P20 uses the company’s system EMUI based on Android 8.1.
On the back, the devices sport the popular gradient color that Huawei brought to the market and UMIDIGI together with other manufacturers followed. Other than that, there are no other similarities since the Z2 has a center-placed camera combo and a fingerprint reader while the P20 is much cleaner, adopting the iPhone X paradigm. Both devices have a glass back with Z2 having a four-sided curved glass and the P20 a flat one. Supposedly, the Z2 choice is more ergonomic as it should fit better in the palm of your hand.
The UMIDIGI Z2 is already available for subscription that will get you $50 off the official price once presale begins. That is more than 50% off the price of Huawei P20 that sells for $599.99 on Amazon. The presale will begin on June 11th.
