The OPPO Find X is the trending device this week. The new flagship from the BBK-owned brand isn’t only popular because the Find series is back but has been generating a lot of buzz due to its bezel-less design. Its sister company, Vivo, also released the NEX about a week ago and it also has a similar bezel-less display.

While most have praised OPPO and Vivo’s approach to producing a truly bezel-less phone, there are some who have reservations about them. Meizu’s CEO, Jack Wong, belongs to the latter group.

Mr. Wong is reported to have asked if it was necessary to go through so much trouble just to add a sliding front camera to both devices. He adds that even with the top bezel completely shaved off, the phones are still too long and therefore don’t make it easy to reach the upper part of the display.

Meizu doesn’t have a full-screen flagship phone. Its Meizu 15 and Meizu 15 Plus both have traditional 16:9 displays but significantly reduced bezels. Its upcoming Meizu 16 may follow the same trend of smaller bezels instead of a full-screen design or a notch.
