While Xiaomi fans were speculating that it could be the Xiaomi Mi 9 or any other Mi series flagship phone, a recent report revealed that it could be the first Redmi series flagship phone. Fresh information reveals that the mysterious Redmi phone will be equipped with an in-screen camera hole display design.

My Drivers has learnt through industry sources that Xiaomi’s upcoming Redmi phone with 48-megapixel camera will be equipped with an LCD panel supplied by China’s BOE display maker. The smartphone is expected to feature a thick chin, but it will offer an impressive screen-to-body ratio since it features a hole in the display for the front camera like the new Samsung Galaxy A8s and the upcoming Huawei Nova 4.

Rumors have it that the 48-megapixel sensor will be a part of the rear-mounted triple camera system that will include a super wide-angle lens. There is no new information available on the pricing of the phone. The new display design and the camera prowess of the phone suggests that it won’t be a cheap device. It may cost more than 2,000 Yuan in China.

Previous leaks have suggested that the mysterious Redmi flagship phone will be featuring the Samsung ISOCELL Bright CM1 48-megapixel sensor which is cheaper than Sony IMX586 sensor. The image shared by Lin Bin showed that it could be first Redmi phone with glass panel on its rear. In October, the 11nm Snapdragon 675 chipset was announced by Qualcomm. After the launch of SD675, Xiaomi had confirmed that it will be launching a smartphone driven by the same SoC. Now that the SD675 is equipped with support 48-mmegapixle camera sensor, the rumor mill is speculating that the mysterious Redmi flagship phone will be powered by Snapdragon 675.(via)
