In July, Sony had announced the Sony IMX586 48-megapixel camera sensor. Yesterday, Honor confirmed that the first phone to feature it will be the upcoming Honor View 20 that is scheduled to go official on Jan. 22 in Paris, France. The same phone will be announced as Honor V20 on Dec. 26 in China. Huawei’s sub-brand has shared the first camera samples of the Honor V20 to reveal the photography prowess of the 48-megapixel camera sensor in all kinds of lighting environments.

The Sony IMX587 CMOS sensor offers a large pixel size of 0.8micron. Moreover, the Quad Bayer technology that stacks four adjacent 2×2 pixels into the same color. It will users to capture photos without noise in dim light conditions. The first camera samples show that the Honor V20 will be capable at capturing DSLR like photos on a smartphone.

Some of the photos shown below have been shot at night, bright areas and some of them are in black and white. To sum up, the Honor V20 may as a powerful camera-centric flagship smartphone.

The Honor V20 is the next flagship phone from Honor. Hence, it is fueled by Kirin 980 chipset. The Chinese manufacturer has confirmed that the phone will be equipped with Link Turbo technologyv which combines Wi-Fi and LTE to work together for faster and uninterrupted connectivity.

The Honor V20 is equipped with a 6.4-inch display with in-screen camera hole at its top-left corner. Rumors have it that the phone will be also equipped with a ToF 3D sensor for creating accurate 3D models for Augmented Reality (AR). The exact size of the battery that will be powering the smartphone is not known. However, it has been confirmed that the phone will carry support for 22.5W fast charging. The handset is expected to arrive in China with a starting price of 2,799 Yuan (~$406).
