Huawei has become a household name in the mobile industry. The Chinese-owned business is now one of the top three mobile companies in the world and it is aiming for the top spot.

Huawei’s Richard Yu revealed in an interview with De Welt, a German publication, some of the company’s future plans. First, Huawei CEO said it will soon overtake Samsung in terms of market share. According to Mr. Yu, Huawei will “be the market leader by next year at the latest. We are already close.”

He added that they already surpassed Apple in terms of innovation and believe the Cupertino-company will not launch a foldable phone soon.

Huawei Mate X featured

Talking about foldable devices, the Huawei Mate X is one of the most expensive phones if not the most expensive one unveiled at MWC 2019. Seeing as it is one of the first foldable phones in the world, the super high price tag is understandable. Huawei’s CEO says the price of foldable phones will eventually be less in a year or two, selling for about €1000 and even some Chinese OEMs offering models that sell for as low as €500.

Mr. Richard Yu also believes foldable phones will become the standard in a few years. He also believes there will be phones with displays between 100 to 200 inches! Sounds impossible right? Yes, it is impossible but not if you are referring to a virtual screen which is what the Huawei executive means. He said they are currently working on such a device which will be a pair of AR glasses and it should arrive in less than five years.
