Xiaomi’s Mi CC9 Pro and Mi Note 10 launched last week with a penta camera system, counting the selfie camera, you get a total of six sensors on both phones. But, what if you have those five rear cameras doubling as selfie cameras? Awesome, right? That may just happen based on a recently published Xiaomi patent.

Xiaomi Foldable phone with pop-up penta camera

According to the patent which was published on November 8, Xiaomi may make a foldable phone that has five pop-up cameras. The foldable phone has an outward-folding screen, and depending on how you hold it, the five cameras can either be your rear cameras or front-facing cameras.

When the device is unfolded, the cameras are on the left side which is thicker and is home to the battery and the other components that make up the phone.

It is important to state that even though there is a patent for the design, it doesn’t mean we may see a real product anytime soon or if at all.

Xiaomi is yet to announce its own foldable device, though we have seen videos of a working prototype. Back in September, the manufacturer announced the Mi MIX Alpha, a phone with a flexible display that wraps around the device. Xiaomi says it will sell a limited quantity in the future.
