According to a new report, Huawei has begun market research for desktop computers. Huawei is already well known for its wide array of consumer grade electronics products which include smartphones and even laptops. So, desktop computers might be another area the company plans on investing in.

Huawei’s MateBook series laptops have successfully been received by many customers. Currently, these are one of the only products that are compatible with Microsoft’s Windows OS. Notably, Huawei has previously launched desktop computers in the past but those have been exclusive for commercial enterprises. So, the upcoming Huawei desktop computers might be the first from the company that is aimed at mainstream consumers.

The news about Huawei’s market research was shared online by a Weibo user. It also mentioned that the company is performing surveys. These survey reports are made by inviting multiple volunteers and asking for their views and requirements on Huawei building a desktop computer. Thus, it can be surmised that the company might have already started with building prototypes of such PCs.

The post on the Chinese microblogging website also shared the technical specifications of Huawei’s desktop computers. The PC is equipped with Kunpeng 920S processor (an indigenously built processor from Huawei) and supports up to 64GB of RAM. It also features a dedicated graphics card which indicates it might a gaming desktop or be offered in variants specialized for gaming.
