Since the whole world is going through the COVID-19 pandemic, most of the companies have halted producing goods in their manufacturing plants. Some have followed this suit as a precaution, while others were compelled to carry out due to government orders. Despite this situation, Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics have planned to send 430 engineers from their home country South Korea to their manufacturing plants in Vietnam with special permission from the government.

Since February 22, the Vietnamese government has been banning foreigners from entering the country. Additionally, from February 29th, the government has also suspended visa-free travel for South Koreans and it has even stopped issuing new work visas to control the coronavirus outbreak. However, the government will exempt Korea’s top two electronics giants in this regard by allowing them to send a certain number of their citizens to their manufacturing hubs to maintain production lines.

As per industry sources, Samsung will be dispatching 180 engineers to work at its OLED plant, whereas LG will be sending 250 workers to support the production of smartphones, automotive parts, and home appliances. These people will be traveling on a separate chartered Asiana Airlines flight.
