Last year, Apple announced iPadOS, a special version of iOS made for iPads. Before then, iPads ran iOS just like iPhones. A new leak has revealed that Apple may soon ditch the iOS name for iPhone OS (will most likely be stylized as iPhoneOS).
The info comes from a tweet by Jon Prosser, a leaker known for Apple-related news. The tweet was corroborated by Max Weinbach of XDA Developers who said he received a mail saying that Apple will rename iOS to iPhone OS.
Dude I got a random email saying Apple would rename iOS to iPhone OS and the iPhone to Apple Phone and I didn't believe it…

Max’s tweet also said the mail mentioned that the iPhone will be renamed Apple Phone. Regarding the renaming of the iPhone, we advise you to take it with a pinch of salt for now.
We expect the announcement will be made at Apple’s WWDC 2020 conference which is scheduled for April 22. The conference is supposed to be for new developments and features coming to iOS 14, iPadOS, watchOS, and macOS.
What do you think about the name change from iOS to iPhoneOS, yay or nay?
