Huawei just held a smart life conference where it unveiled several products, including the FreeBuds 4, MateBook 16, Huawei Smart Screen SE, Smart Scale Pro, and more. The tech giant also announced the Children’s Watch 4X New Shining edition equipped with the same design and features as the Children’s Watch 4X that was launched last year. 
The Huawei Children’s Watch 4X New Shining Edition features a catchy design that aims to arouse children’s curiosity through its illuminating outlook. It comes with an upgraded woven strap capable of reflecting a bit of starlight when the watch is placed under light. This is the major difference it has from the Children’s Watch 4X from last year.
The Children’s Watch 4X New Shining Edition retains the dual-camera setup of its predecessor, packing a 5-megapixel camera on the front and an 8-megapixel shooter on the side.
The camera could be used for taking photographs, slow-motion video recording, and the added face recognition capability. In addition, high definition video calls could be done using the camera, very useful when parents seek to monitor what their child is up to at any instant and view the environment the child is located. WeChat functionality is also available – friends can be easily added by just a shaking action, and you can chat with your friends in private or group chats.
The smartwatch has strong water resistance capability and can withstand an extended period underwater for up to 50 meters. Several activities can be done while the swimming mode is activated, including shooting underwater videos and captions and recording. Other sport modes are also available for the device.
Another stand-out feature of the Children’s Watch 4X New Shining Edition is an impressive built-in 11-fold AI positioning system, together with GPS and Huawei’s NLT technology to provide more precise location data for the user. The device also packs a big 800mAh battery with fast charging support that is capable of delivering up to 50% of battery life in just 20 minutes.
There is also support for NFC for contactless payment as well as built-in Xiaodu voice assistant 3.0. The watch arrives with 4G Netcom and VoLTE capabilities compatible with China’s three major telecoms providers – China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom.
The new Huawei Children’s Watch 4X New Shining Edition comes in two colors; Nebula Blue and Nebula Purple. The watch carries a 1398 yuan (~$217) price tag. It is currently available for pre-sale via Huawei Mall, major authorized e-commerce platforms, and Huawei experience stores. The watch will go on sale for the first time on June 1.
