Sony launches “off-ear” style Float Run sports headphones in India

After a teaser yesterday, Sony has now launched its new pair of wireless headphones, the Float Run, in India. Designed specifically for runners and athletes, these headphones take a unique approach, ditching the traditional earbud design in favor of an “off-ear” style. Let’s learn more about it in this story.

Sony Float Run headphone specifications

As an off-ear headphone, the Float Run sits just outside the ear, resting on a flexible neckband. This unconventional approach aims to provide several benefits for active users.

Firstly, it eliminates pressure and potential chafing on the ears, making them more comfortable for extended runs. Additionally, the open design allows ambient noise to pass through, increasing situational awareness for runners who want to hear traffic or approaching footsteps.

Sony Float Run Headphones India

Despite the unconventional placement, Sony claims the Float Run’s 16mm drivers will deliver “a more natural and wider sound” without compromising on audio quality, which will go perfectly with a workout session. The open-ear style even cancels out some distracting echoes like your own footsteps or breathing.

Weighing in at just 33 grams, the Float Run is lightweight and won’t weigh you down during your workout. Battery life clocks in at 10 hours, which should cover most playlists, and an IPX4 splashproof rating ensures the headphones can handle sweat and unexpected rain.

The headphone also supports intuitive controls that let you manage music and calls without needing your phone. There’s a built-in microphone for hands-free communication.

Price and Availability

The Sony Float Run is now available in India for Rs 10,990 I~ USD 132) and comes in a single black color option. You can find them at Sony retail stores and on major e-commerce platforms like Amazon throughout India.

From meme to market: Xbox Series S Toaster is now available at Walmart

The Xbox Series X Mini Fridge was a cool product to come out of Microsoft’s factory. It all started as a fun meme that turned into an actual product which I would call a collector’s item.

Now, Xbox is doubling down on its foray into kitchen appliances with the surprise launch of the Xbox Series S toaster! This isn’t just some marketing stunt – it’s a real, fully functional toaster shaped like the sleek console, and it’s available at Walmart for a cool $39.99.

Xbox Series S Toaster

Xbox Series S Toaster is real!

As you might expect, the Xbox Series S toaster adopts the signature design of its entry-level console. Its functionality remains grounded like a normal toaster though.

There are features like a shade selector for custom browning, a two-slice capacity (including bagels, waffles, and more), and a defrost button. But the standout element is the branding – the toaster imprints the iconic Xbox logo onto your toast, adding a playful touch to your breakfast routine.

Walmart’s listing aptly describes the toaster’s appeal: “No more breakfast-induced jump scares or cold toast while searching for the perfect save point.” It’s a subtle nod to gamer culture and a fun way to integrate your Xbox passion into the kitchen.

Of course, the toaster’s existence has roots in the meme-filled launch of the Xbox Series S itself. Its distinct design inspired comparisons to everything from doorbells to boomboxes, and somewhere along the line, the toaster meme was born.

Now, thanks to Microsoft’s embrace of the unexpected, that meme has materialized, joining the ranks of the popular Xbox Series X mini fridge.

The Xbox Series S toaster is a delightful example of how tech giants can connect with their audience in unexpected ways. So what do you think about it? Is this quirky kitchen companion worth a spot on your countertop?  Share your thoughts in the comments below!

Samsung Galaxy A35 surfaces in leaked renders, sporting familiar design and rumored camera upgrade

Ahead of the anticipated Galaxy S24 launch, Samsung‘s A-series is also attracting attention with new renders surfacing online. The latest reveals are for the Samsung Galaxy A35, joining the A55 renders that appeared yesterday. These images offer a preview of the phone’s design and possible camera improvements.

Samsung Galaxy A35 renders

The leaked renders showcase the A35 in three color options: Iceblue, Lilac, and Navy. They also reveal a design element shared with the A15 and A25 — the distinct “Key Island” bump on the right side, housing the power and volume buttons. Likewise, you can expect the phone to have rounded corners and a likely plastic frame.

On the back of the Galaxy A35, there’s a vertically arranged triple-camera setup with an LED flash, a common design in many Samsung phones. There are rumors that the main camera might be upgraded to 50MP, a step up from the A34’s 48MP. The other two cameras, possibly 8MP and 5MP, might stay the same.

A notable upgrade in the Galaxy A35 is its front design. Samsung has moved on from the U-shaped notch in the Galaxy A34 to a more modern punch-hole camera cutout. The screen bezels look slimmer as well, which is a nice improvement. However, the bottom bezel is still thicker than those on the other sides.

Samsung Galaxy A35 renders

There are reports that the Galaxy A35 might have the same Exynos 1480 processor as the Galaxy A55. It’s also expected to keep its dust and water resistance (IP rating) and might have a 5000mAh battery with 25W charging capability.

But remember, these are just early rumors, so it’s best to take them with a grain of caution. As we get closer to the launch timeline, the A35 could appear on certification platforms or benchmark listings soon, potentially revealing more information. We will keep you posted on any new developments.

LG Display unveils 480Hz OLED panel for gaming monitors

LG Display has unveiled a new contender in the high-end gaming monitor space — a 27-inch OLED panel boasting a blistering 480Hz refresh rate coupled with a crisp 1440p resolution.

LG’s new panel surpasses its own “Dual-Hz” monitor, which required switching to 1080p to reach 480Hz. This latest offering delivers the full refresh rate at its native 1440p resolution.

More importantly, it directly challenges Samsung’s recent OLED panel with a 360Hz refresh rate at 1440p. LG’s panel ups the ante by offering a higher refresh rate while maintaining a sharper resolution.

LG 480Hz OLED monitor

However, do note that the 480Hz refresh rate might be overkill for most gamers. Studies suggest the human eye’s maximum observable rate ranges from 50-90Hz, with some individuals reaching over 500Hz under specific conditions. Therefore, 480Hz sits right at the edge of human perception in optimal scenarios.

On top of this, the panel also boasts a 0.03ms response time, claimed to be the fastest on the market. It’s really cool to see (or hear) these advanced features, but remember, they’re not cheap. OLED screens are already expensive, and LG’s latest technology is going to make them even pricier.

Beyond raw speed, LG’s “META Technology” promises improvements in brightness and viewing angles. The company further claims the panel emits the “lowest level of blue light in the industry,” which will help reduce eye fatigue during extended gaming sessions.

While specific monitor models featuring this panel haven’t been announced yet, LG plans a rollout within the first half of 2024. CES 2024 will also see the company showcase its entire lineup of OLED gaming displays, ranging from 27 inches to a hefty 45 inches.

All in all, LG’s new OLED panel redefines the possibilities of gaming display technology, though its practical benefits might be limited to a niche audience.

New Refund Policy Sparks Seller Concerns on China’s E-Commerce Giants, Taobao and JD.com

China‘s online shopping giants, Taobao and JD.com, recently rolled out new refund policies that have sparked a wave of concern among sellers. These policies allow customers to receive refunds for products without returning them under certain circumstances. This change follows the lead of Pinduoduo, another major player in the Chinese e-commerce market.

This policy indicates a shift towards a more consumer-friendly approach

The shift towards a more consumer-friendly approach comes as these platforms battle for dominance in a highly competitive market. Alibaba, the parent company of Taobao, has always aimed to simplify doing business. However, this new policy is seen as a double-edged sword.

JD.com

From the consumer’s perspective, this is a significant win. It offers an added layer of protection and confidence when shopping online. For instance, Tang Guangyao, a software developer from Beijing, expresses a preference for Pinduoduo due to its robust consumer protection policies.

But for sellers, the situation is more complex. There’s a genuine fear that some customers might exploit this policy. A 33-year-old owner of an apparel shop on both Taobao and JD.com voices concern that this could particularly hurt sellers of high-quality goods, as they face higher costs with increased refund claims. This fear is echoed across social media platforms like Douyin and Weibo, where sellers express frustration and worry about the potential for policy abuse.

Despite these concerns, Taobao and JD.com have measures in place to safeguard against misuse. Refund decisions on these platforms will be based on various indicators, including the merchant and buyer’s track records and big data analysis. Moreover, Taobao has provided an appeal option for merchants who feel they have been wronged by this policy.

However, analysts like Zhang Yi of iiMedia caution against a one-size-fits-all approach. Pinduoduo’s success with this policy stems from its focus on budget-priced goods, making the costs more bearable. For platforms like Taobao and JD.com, where a broader range of products and prices exist, the implications could be more challenging.

Riders can choose between an aluminum or carbon frame, with the aluminum Gravital SL 1 AXS weighing 14.5 kilograms and the carbon Gravital UL 2 AXS just 13.6 kilograms. A 13-year-old Kid Technically “Beat” Tetris Earlier Today, Becoming a Record Holder!

Let’s be honest, most of us have played Tetris at some point in our life, but then some have transcended the definition of the word ‘playing’. In a remarkable feat that’s capturing the attention of gamers and non-gamers alike, 13-year-old Willis Gibson from Oklahoma has achieved what many thought impossible – he’s reached a level in Tetris that the game itself wasn’t designed to handle. Tetris, a game that has stood the test of time since its creation in 1985, has been a staple in many homes, and Willis has taken it to a new height.

The kid, Willis Gibson, reached further than any other human in the game

This young prodigy, who spends about 20 hours a week perfecting his Tetris skills, managed to reach level 157. For those unfamiliar, this is a big deal because Tetris is a game known for its never-ending challenge. It’s designed to keep getting faster and more complex the longer you play. But Willis found the game’s limit, a point known as the “kill screen,” where Tetris simply can’t go any further.

Tetris

Willis’s journey in the world of Tetris is not just about this single achievement. He’s a professional Tetris player and one of the finest in the United States. With a third-place finish at the Classic Tetris World Championship in 2023, he’s already making waves in the competitive scene. Plus, he’s not just playing for fun – he’s already earned around $3,000 from competing in Tetris tournaments.

This feat isn’t just a testament to Willis’s gaming skills. It’s a reminder of how classic games like Tetris continue to inspire and challenge new generations. It’s a game that has been ported to nearly every platform imaginable and holds the title of the best-selling video game of all time. The appeal of Tetris lies in its simplicity and the endless challenge it offers, qualities that have made it a beloved game for decades.

Willis’s achievement is a blend of nostalgia and new-age gaming triumph. It shows how a game from the 1980s can still bring excitement and inspire remarkable accomplishments. His story is not just about a high score in a video game; it’s about determination, skill, and the enduring appeal of a classic game. As Willis gears up for his next competition in Texas, he carries with him not just his own aspirations but the legacy of a game that has transcended time and technology.
