Nvidia is Preparing to Release Its Cheapest RTX 30 Series Card Ever

Nvidia continues to expand its RTX 3000 series graphics card family. The company, known for delivering both performance and competitive pricing with its products, is now working on a variation rather than an entirely new model. It appears that Nvidia is developing a 6 GB version of the already-discussed RTX 3050. Here are the details…

New 6GB Nvidia RTX 3050 on the Horizon

In January 2022, Nvidia unveiled the RTX 3050 graphics card equipped with 8 GB GDDR6 memory and 3072 CUDA cores, priced at $249. Despite some debates about its performance, its affordable price made it a quickly popular choice. However, the company didn’t stop there and began working on a more cost-effective version, aiming for a 6 GB RTX 3050.

Nvidia RTX 3050

Most recently, a product listing for Palit RTX 3050 6GB models from a Russian retailer has unveiled an affordable GPU. According to the listing, the card has a base clock of 1042MHz, which is significantly lower than the current RTX 3050 8GB (at 1,552MHz). Fortunately, the boost speed remains unchanged (1,777MHz), as does the CUDA Core count (2,560).

Of course, many consumers prioritize affordability over everything else and Nvidia knows that. However, if you’re thinking about waiting for the 6 GB Nvidia RTX 3050 when buying a graphics card, it’s worth considering. Despite having the same CUDA Core count, the base clock and vRAM are relatively low. Therefore, you might not achieve the desired performance in the games you want to play.

Still, for less demanding games and tasks, it could offer savings. Moreover some gaming laptops already have the RTX 3050 with less vRAM, and checking performance tests on these models can give you a starting point.

Apple Led the 2023 Flagship Smartphone Market, especially in China, Western Europe, & India

Apple‘s dominance in the high-end smartphone market in 2023 was clear, but Huawei‘s resurgence, particularly with its Mate 60 series, marked an interesting shift. Despite facing sanctions, Huawei managed to increase its market share in the premium segment, a testament to the appeal and quality of its 5G handsets.

Samsung is second with a 17% share, while Huawei is still catching up steadily

The premium smartphone market, defined by devices priced over $600, continued to be a bright spot in an otherwise sluggish global market. Apple held a commanding 71% share, a figure that speaks volumes about its brand loyalty and product appeal. Samsung, another major player, retained its second position with a 17% share. However, Huawei’s rise to a 5% share, up from 3%, indicates a changing landscape in consumer preferences, especially in the 5G domain.

iPhone 15 series

Other notable brands like Xiaomi and Oppo also made their presence felt, though with smaller market shares. This diversity in brand choices highlights a growing trend in the premium segment – consumers are increasingly looking for high-quality, long-lasting devices and are willing to invest more in their smartphones.

This trend is particularly evident in markets like China, Western Europe, India, and the Middle East-and-Africa regions. In fact, India’s rapidly expanding market for premium smartphones has caught the attention of major players like Apple, which recently opened its first retail store there.

The shift towards more expensive smartphones is not just about functionality; it’s become a status symbol, especially in emerging markets. Promotions and financing options are making these high-end devices more accessible, leading to a significant jump from mid-priced to premium handsets.

Upcoming Minecraft Movie will Reportedly Feature Hollywood Sweetheart Jack Black as Steve

Jack Black is a Hollywood sweetheart, known for his dynamic roles and voice acting. The man himself is all set to star in the much-anticipated Minecraft movie, slated for an April 2025 release. This news has created a buzz among fans, as Black will reportedly be playing the character of Steve, adding another feather to his cap of video game-related roles. The cast also includes the likes of Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Sebastian Eugene Hansen, and Danielle Brooks, promising a blend of talent and charisma on screen.

Jack Black also voiced Bowser in the smash-hit Super Mario Bros. movie released last year

The movie, directed by Jared Hess, who has previously worked with Black in “Nacho Libre,” is expected to bring a fresh and exciting perspective to the Minecraft universe. Hess’s direction, known for its unique blend of humor and character-driven stories, as seen in “Napoleon Dynamite,” might just be the perfect match for the Minecraft world’s sandbox nature.

Minecraft

What makes the Minecraft movie project intriguing is its open-ended premise. Minecraft, as a game, is celebrated for its creative freedom, allowing players to build, explore, and create their own stories. Translating this essence into a movie narrative is a challenging yet exciting prospect. The film could potentially offer a blend of adventure, creativity, and the unexpected, much like the game itself.

Interestingly, this isn’t Jack Black’s first venture into the realm of video game movies. His voice acting as the villain Bowser in “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” was well-received, contributing to the film’s massive success. His involvement in the Minecraft movie brings with it a promise of quality and entertainment.

While the plot of the Minecraft movie is still under wraps, the combination of a talented cast, a director with a quirky vision, and the vast, imaginative world of Minecraft, makes this an eagerly awaited project. It represents another fascinating crossover between the worlds of video games and cinema. One can only wait a whole year, and then some more to witness the movie on a big screen!

Samsung is gearing up to unveil its next-generation flagship Galaxy S24 series on January 17. The South Korean brand is also expected to announce its next-generation Galaxy A-series phones. The company has already launched the Galaxy A25 5G and A15 5G in the global markets. The next phone in the A-series i.e. the Galaxy A55 surfaced in press renders yesterday and this led to the anticipation of its imminent arrival. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case as per a new report.

Samsung Galaxy A55 may not launch soon

SamMobile reports that Samsung is planning to launch the Galaxy A55 sometime early in the second quarter of 2024. This means that the device may debut between the April to June period. The recently leaked press renders of the Galaxy A55 are in line with the CAD-based leaked renders. The former reveals that the device will arrive in Iceblue, Lilac, and Navy color options. The device will have a metal frame and a ‘key island’ that is a protrusion on the right frame housing the power and volume rocker buttons.

As per past reports, the Galaxy A55 is expected to be powered by an Exynos 1480 processor with support for AMD GPUa. It is tipped to be backed by a 5,000mAh battery unit with support for 25W fast charging.
